Today the Token House owns and manages 70 domains, our main ones being as shown above. The first and most well established was firstbookshop.com founded by and today still overseen by Roger Crossland a Bookseller since the 1970's. As the 1st Bookshop in the world to retail and redeem National Book Tokens online, this service was expanded to offer Theatre Tokens online - nationwide UK theatre vouchers and now both gift cards are today sold under the well recognised brand of tokenline.com freepost within Great Britain & Ireland.

We have been operating internet services since 1999 including the promotion of educational and vocational development through various trading initiatives. Roger and Martin's pioneering and successful relationship formed it's roots at Leeds during the 1980's and their family's 1st Bookshop opened in the Spring of 1987. It's curently celebrating 37 years, as still trades online successfully today!

In 2004, following Martin & Roger's relocation to Bridlington, the partnership became aware of the opportunities not only for progression, but also for the benefit of the area and its population through utilising their expertise, ethos and commitment to regeneration programmes. The establishment then of community accountancy services and the jobsites, was achieved by using experience gained within the voluntary and community sectors, working primarily within areas focused around community development, employment, training and assisting local businesses to thrive.

Because there was such a phenomenal demand for the online recruitment service, started as Bridjobs and which we became so renown for in East Yorkshire, during the years that followed this was expanded with The Employers Agency as an add on, yet another unique and exciting development for the local business owners in Bridlington and the East Riding County. Although the Recruitment Agency Offices were open in Bridlington from 2009 to 2014 after trials and research, it was decided to revert back to a Jobsite, until complete closure in Summer 2021.
 

Our latest web domain which went live for the retailing of books online in Autumn 2021, became a quicker way to access books for buying & paying with a National Book more conveniently than elsewhere was: firstbooks.uk

Previously and pre Covid, way back in

2019 we celebrated 20 years of tokens online.

Our business then went on to survive the Pandemic.

2022 on May 5th we celebrated Garforth Bookshop's 35 years:

2023 The Token House Company celebrated 40 years since its inauguration.

2024 sees our Theatre Token Gift Card now becoming redeemable at 300 venues.
